SACRAMENTO – Attorney General Kamala D. Harris today announced the appointment of Dr. Victor G. Carrion to the state Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission.

He is now an associate professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and director of the Stanford Early Life Stress Research Program. He is also a faculty member at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford and associate editor of the Journal of Traumatic Stress.
Dr. Carrion has received awards from the National Institute of Mental Health, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the National Association for Research in Schizophrenia and Affective Disorders.
The commission advises the governor and the state Legislature on mental health policy and oversees implementation of the Mental Health Services Act, which includes prevention & early intervention programs, the Children’s Mental Health Services Act, and the Adults and Older Adults Systems of Care Act.
