(SACRAMENTO) – The Attorney General’s Office issued the following statement today in response to a request that the office conduct an investigation into Sutter Health concerning alleged violations of state unfair competition and charitable trust laws. The following statement may be attributed to Nathan Barankin, Director of Communications for Attorney General Bill Lockyer:
"The Attorney General's Office has received a complaint regarding a number of business practices and policies of Sutter Health, and related concerns about its non-profit status. The complaint, signed by Health Access California, Latino Issues Form, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), and the California State Council of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), will be reviewed by the Attorney General's Charitable Trust and Consumer Law Sections. Our office will have no further comment about the status of the Sutter Health review until it is complete."
