SACRAMENTO – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today filed a motion with the U.S. Supreme Court to request it expeditiously review California’s challenge of the Trump Administration’s citizenship question on the 2020 Census.

“A district court recently ruled in our favor, agreeing that the Trump Administration acted unlawfully and unconstitutionally in adding a citizenship question to the 2020 Census,” said Attorney General Becerra. “But since the issue of adding the question is now before the Supreme Court, and our state could face disproportional harm if the Administration has its way, we ask the Court to consider our case simultaneously to any others in April.”
