SACRAMENTO California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today issued the following statement in honor of fallen Deputy Sheriff Jose Mora of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on the day of his memorial service:

“Please pause with me for a moment today as we pay tribute to Deputy Sheriff Jose Mora who honorably served with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Sheriff Mora passed away on September 7, 2020, from complications due to COVID-19. He devoted his career to serving and protecting his community, first as a police officer for the City of Firebaugh and most recently as a 16-year veteran of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Sheriff Mora will be remembered by those who knew and worked side-by-side with him as a hard working, dedicated and caring peace officer who always stepped up to help his partners and his community. We extend our deepest sympathies to Deputy Sheriff Mora’s wife Carol, his children, and all who loved him. Thank you for your service, rest in eternal peace, Deputy Sheriff Jose Mora. EOW: 9/7/20.
