Attorney General Bill Lockyer Issues Statement in Response to Today's Terrorist Attacks

(SACRAMENTO) – Attorney General Bill Lockyer today issued the following statement in response to today's terrorist attacks on the East Coast:

"Today's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon have surprised and saddened us all as Americans. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and their families. I have directed our Division of Law Enforcement to coordinate with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services to make all departmental resources available throughout California and provide any assistance possible to authorities in New York and Washington, D.C. I have also directed our Bureau of Investigation and intelligence specialists to assess what threat, if any, terrorist extremists may pose to California in light of these attacks. I am certain that the United States government will take all necessary steps to identify those responsible for these attacks and respond appropriately."
