Sunday, March 20, 2011
Contact: (415) 703-5837, agpressoffice@doj.ca.gov

SAN FRANCISCO -- It was with great sadness that I learned on Friday evening we lost a dedicated young officer, Jermaine Gibson. Officer Gibson died in the line of duty while he was protecting his fellow citizens in the community of Cathedral City. His tragic passing is a great loss to his family, his fellow officers, and to the people of California. This valiant and brave young officer also served his country in two tours of Iraq, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Let us all remember him and his dedication to protecting his fellow countrymen. On behalf of the California Department of Justice, I send our deepest condolences to his young family, his friends, his fellow officers and the entire law enforcement community.
