One of the primary roles of the Attorney General is to defend California’s laws — in California and before the United States Supreme Court.  In recent years, California’s gun safety laws have routinely been challenged in court.   The California Department of Justice is actively defending California’s effective firearms safety laws in the wake of the United States Supreme Court’s divided opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.  Additionally, Attorney General Bonta has made it a priority to use whatever tools available to us to prevent the proliferation of ghost guns.
